jhild: With AOL"select a local contact number" one can see that info after connecting to a 800 number which shows whether the connect number is a flex or x2. Earlier in my valley, we had 32 flex to 24 x2. It is now changed to 44 flex to 24 x2. Some other large metropolitin area numbes I researched had 100 to 22 type numbers. Style has reported 3-to-1 in his area. Almost in all areas flex beat out x2.

Just two interesting points:
[1] Earlier USRX kick the ass of Diamond, Zoom, Hays etc. Well, now USRX needed them to get X2 ahead of flex. And of course these guys decided to play dead. Modem is now a commodity (read - low margin) bussiness. No way these guys were going to help USRX. This has made 56K a non event.

[2] With the stock down, everybody is beating on Moe (Ej.). But he had rightfully pointed earlier 56K is a non issue. The real issue is how ASND moves from a remote aceess ONLY company to a WAN company. This will ensure the high margins. The recent troubles are due to transition to this new operating model.

Street of course doesn't understand difference between NIC and OC-45. But as I always like to say, once they get it they are more than willing to make up for it through price premium. So if you can overlook the bleeding for a few weeks, enjoy the fire sell. Reminds me of buying Newbridge at 26 in '95 (13 spilt adjusted) or Nokia at 33 last April.
