I graduated high school in '75 and as a MARRIED woman, went to Planned Parenthood in the late 80's. I was quite turned off by my ob/gyn who wanted to do a hysterectomy on me. I received much better care from Planned Parenthood (and no hysterectomy).

Why would your wife think that someone else's experience would be the same as hers?

Once again, I got better care from Planned Parenthood than my OB/GYN. And I still have my uterus!

All of my friends went to their OB/GYN's. I am the only one of my friends that went to Planned Parenthood (that I know of). I am a pretty well known cheapskate and we have a pretty healthy deductible, and I was unhappy with my regular Dr. I also am the only one in my circle of friends that had a midwife. It sounds like your wife and I had opposite experiences.

Just for the fun of it here, you didn't homeschool your kids did you? Because I did. Maybe we have that in common.
