It's a complicated problem, but government has created the divorce and single parent problem with the assistance it provides. That's a different issue from child support and I know the argument you are alluding to. For me, the big picture is this. Men have walked out on women and children for centuries and long before welfare was even a term. A very simple choice is thus presented. Make men contribute to the upkeep of those they left behind or not. What's your choice? If your choice is to hold men responsible, then how should that be made enforceable?
