I should qualify that statement--get a bit further into the weeds. I'm not sure that "the easy way" is the same for everyone so I shouldn't be so cavalier about it.

I am more easily sated by blubber. When I read that the best strategy is to eat a lot of fiber to feel full, thus be sated, I want to scream because that does nothing for me. I could eat celery constantly all day long and never feel like I've had enough to eat. But I have to believe that large volumes of fiber must work for some people, otherwise those claims wouldn't be out there. As a result, I'm prepared to acknowledge that "the easy way" for them might well be loading up on fibrous plants. But for many if not most, "the easy way" is, indeed, the animal protein and fat route. Where those of us in that category owe folks like Taubes is that he offers and legitimizes what works for us, especially in the face of "common knowledge" and "expertise" to the contrary.
