If you really were worried, your fight would be with the encroachment by corps where we have little to no control and not with the gov't who is elected by us. Corporations can't do much to harm our liberty without government support. And why do you think corps have gov't support? Wal-mart is a huge company, but if I don't like them I can go to Target, or some other store. Corporations can support the restriction of competition, or having our tax money shifted to them, but they can only do so through the government. How are they getting gov't to assist them in being monopolistic when we have anti monopoly laws on the books? Limit the government and you reduce the extent corporations can impose on us. Why? I don't support giving corps. tax breaks. Yes you do. Not long ago you supported breaks for movie studios, you supported bailouts for GM and other companies, you support tax breaks for "green energy"... I only support them in a world that allows them. I would be all for making corp. breaks illegal. but taking it away doesn't restrain their growing power. You didn't say "it doesn't restrain their growing power", you said it doesn't hurt them. Same thing.....they can continue to grow. Also to the extent corporations wield serious power (rather than just providing goods and services to willing customers, who have the power to destroy the company by being no longer so willing), they have to rely on the government to do so. Oh come on, Tim. Now you're just playing.........$10 for a cup of coffee......not a latte but a cup......is highway robbery in most people's books. Make it $100bil for the cup of coffee. Its neither robbery nor extortion since your free not to pay. You're entering the realm of silliness. Stop. A $10 cup of coffee is outrageous.
