I have been tossing this clik! annoucement around for a day now and I have my doubts. I think this is a viable technology but what is the price target for a digital camera with click!?? $500, $300, $200?? They mentioned that the drive will retail for $200...I think for click to be viable as a mainstream imaging product the total price of a camera with Clic should be around $200-$300, with "near 35mm quality" that would be quality similar to advanced photo system that was introduced last year. I think the consumer camera market is going to be a tough sell, consumers are finiky. I can buy a disposable camera for $12 that has " near 35mm quality" and get double 4x5 prints from Sams club for $5. That is the reality of it and I just have a hard time believing that people are going to run out and shell out that kind of money. I do a lot of photography and a digital darkroom has a lot of appeal but I think afordable mainstream technology is a few years out yet. I think in the short term the market will be PDA's. I can see getting excited about this though. Imagine walking into a mall or store anywhere and having Kiosks that you can view and order digital prints from a click device, puts a whole new spin on one hour photography, and you only get prints made from the photos you like. But like I said, this is a ways off yet.

Brendan,

What an exciting week for Iomega ! I know it seems like the market
doesn't care because the share price didn't go through the roof, but
it is the news this week that makes Iomega a solid long term stock
and really kills the bears biggest argument. All that talk about
1 product company, declining Zip sales, and no future growth beyond
this year are put to rest. Frankly, it is starting to feel like
1995 Comdex all over again. Clik!, a new product with enormous potential that the market doesn't understand and really thought was
just vapor. Sounds, like Zip 2 years ago. If this guy from Brous
is anywhere in the ballpark with this 1 Billion dollars in additional
revenue by 2000, well, believe me the market won't let that go unnoticed. I am also sure that other analysts will be jumping in
soon. Whatever the history of this stock, the company has certainly
proven itself and is even now still accelerating its' growth.
Short term the stock price has problems with resistance at 30,
options manipulation next week, and a lot of shorts who are still
trying to cover below 30. Long term this stock is extremely cheap.
Just a matter of time. I believe your patience will be well rewarded.

Regards,

Dave
