Hi Barron,
A special meeting has been called for on Dec 18th 1997 to vote on the proposed 2-for-1 split, and if a split is agreed on the date of record and the date of split will be decided. I do not think that the split will actually take place before Jan 1998 so investors are making use of the time available to accumulate shares before the date of record is set.
