The flare up was what drew my comment. I keep an eye on the sun and for a while the northern hemisphere has been wearing a ring of fire, like a large necklace of conflagration.

There were obviously a LOT of sunspots, so I checked the actual data to see the numbers and sure enough, it was peaking after a dramatic rise [as happens from time to time]. It was only then that I noticed how low the so-called experts had lowered their expectations for the peak of activity.

You misunderstood the figure of speech "short sunspots". At the bottom, with no sunspots, of course I didn't mean there would be fewer still, it meant there were going to be overall fewer sunspots in the next cycle, which was the topic I was writing about. It's a rather obtuse reading to conclude that meant fewer than none at all.

Yes, I do use the same techniques for the stock market and I do very well thanks and have done, heck time flies when you're having fun, for 45 years now.

That sudden rise you mentioned is just a transient spike on the way to the peak. Watch out for 2020 freezing [predicted with my 2020 foresight] at the next minimum.
