The 'fall' in price is meaningless, because the rise in value was 25% over the last few days before the fall.

Try buying an apartment at 26% discount to more representative price and the prospective and tried buyer would come up with zilch.

Zuma: Libya visit a huge success
2011-04-11 14:38

Cape Town - The African Union Ad-hoc High Level Committee on Libya's visit to that country was a "huge success", President Jacob Zuma said on Monday.

Zuma has returned from his visit to Libya and Mauritania, undertaken as part of the AU committee aimed at working towards a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis, the presidency said in a statement.

The committee first met in Mauritania before heading off to Tripoli on Sunday, where they met with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

On Monday, the heads of state on the committee were scheduled to travel to Benghazi to meet with the opposition.

Zuma foresees lasting peace in Libya

However, Zuma had to return to South Africa as he was scheduled to leave for China on Tuesday to attend South Africa's first meeting as a member of the Brazil-Russia-India-China grouping, which had since been known as BRICS following South Africa's membership.

"Our visit was a huge success. The Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, accepted the road map of the African Union which in our view will enable the AU to assist Libya towards lasting peace and democracy," Zuma said.

"Only an inclusive dialogue among the Libyan parties on the appropriate reforms will ensure a lasting solution in Libya. South Africa, as a member of the panel, is very happy with the outcome of the meeting," said Zuma on arrival in Pretoria.

Urgent African action

The AU's Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) adopted the roadmap for the resolution of the situation in Libya on April 10.

The AUPSC expressed its conviction that the current situation in Libya called for an urgent African action to achieve the following:

- The immediate cessation of all hostilities;

- The co-operation of the competent Libyan authorities to facilitate the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance to the needy populations;

- The protection of foreign nationals, including the African migrants living in Libya; and

- The adoption and implementation of the political reforms necessary for the elimination of the causes of the current crisis.
