My point, (which I think you agree with) is why have we spent decades sucking up Syria? They are a French client who think they own Lebanon. Our only concern should be vs Israel.

The main point is, it's so bad now - Damascus is already HQ for Hamas and half a dozen other terror orgs - that there is little downside to the US or Israel if Assad falls

It may even be an upside. The fall of the military-police state in Damascus may make it easier for Israel to act in Syria with impunity to assassinate those enemies long holed up under the Assads' protection.
