I'd be happy to consider you a friend. Probably I will abstain from debating with you because such has turned out badly for me in the past, and I'm still not quite over the recent loss of a friend I've had for over ten years. I did not debate this person, but I violated her sensibilities by attacking the principles I saw that people were discussing with her on Facebook. One thing I would like to make clear: My ideas are not my person, but I stand on them because nobody else will. My person and my ideas are separate entities. For the same reason, if I attack an idea of yours--here, or perhaps in a different forum--I am not attacking you, the person. You are my friend. Actually, I admire your courage for posting here. My oldest and dearest friend, whom I've known since before either of us can remember, disagrees with me on politics. In the sixty plus years we've known each other, we've never once had a fight. I recently spent three entire days with him and when we were not on the snow machines we were talking or sleeping. Never once talked about politics.
