So, the moral of the story is: if you're going to be a crook, move to New York City.

Poor Bernie Ebbers biggest crimes that got him 25 years were he was an idiot, and he was from Mississippi! He would have fit right in on Wall Street.

<The lenders have also lost money>

No, unfortunately, they haven't. That's what pisses me off.

You are right, they didn't break the law. But they did lose a lot of money, and for that, the stockholders in all the major banks should have been wiped out, management should have lost their jobs, and bondholders should have taken a big haircut. None of that happened.

Instead, they were made good, at my expense, and my unborn great-grand-children's expense, and everyone else who pays (or will pay) taxes in the U.S. And, because of the moral hazard (worse now than in 2008), it'll probably happen again.

And, having made good everyone who lent money for anything, plus the expense of some unwinnable wars in far-off places (3 at the moment), we are now told, "too bad, but there isn't any money to pay for teacher pensions, health care, infrastructure, an Energy Independence policy, or anything else that makes life better."

“They attack Chairman Mao and practise de-Maoification. We must fight to repel this reactionary counter-current.”
