Well, I just figured that since Iomega just opened its new facility in Milpitas they would be working very closely with LSI on this, and that this would lead to more design wins for LSI as a result. I'm just guessing about this.

Hi Shane: I believe you have overlooked the competition from Japan.10 yrs ago, they were No 1 in SemiConductors. They are # 2 now 36% of the mkt vrs 45% for the US. They are going for 256 bit ASICS. Mitshubishi has already announced they have a successful run making a 256bit ASIC using a 300mm wafer with circuit etching line width of 0.1mic. At these fine levels the manufacture has to be in auto mode to ensure cleanlines & alignment sensitivity. Incidentally these type of plants will cost $2b or more but their level of productivity will be unmatched. I really would like to know why LU is #1 and why LSI has not displaced them . After that I would like to know the time gap LSI has against Mitshubishi's next generation ASICS.
