Aug 93 MSFT PE 22.2, stock price under 18 split adjusted.
Average PE of 32.5 for last five years. MSFT PE in high
teens Oct 90, thanks to Sadam. He's back again now. Not
a prediction, just an observation. FD.

P.S. Didn't sell then either.

Hi Johnd,

Thought I would try to take a stab at some pieces of you question.

Dont know what the right PE is BUT: 900M shares+ of MSFT in the float and 70% owned by the company founders, executives and employees. Intel has 1.8 Billion with a whole lot less owned by Grove and Moore.

So with maybe only 300M shares available to trade. Microsoft has repurchaced $7 Billion back since the IPO. Lots more demand than supply and most stock owners do not sell because this is the only retirement package that MSFT offers. Lots of people buying PUTS which are being sold by MSFT. They love it because they just buy back another big block of stock and the PUTS are worthless.

Also, lots of us that have owned for a long time see little reason to sell at this time.It would bring a tear to your eye to know what I bought MSFT for.

Gates is only in his early 40's and is one of the most moxey business people in the world. MSFT has $9Billion in cash and has several new products in the pipe line...Greatest threat near term is SW saturation of existing platforms. MSFT will do well because they are like Junk Yard dogs. Don't put your leg over the fence unless you know what is there. Unlike others here I have been following Gates for 18 years and see him as one of the great innovators of our time. I'm sure I will get a lot of flack from the folks who hate MSFT.

MSFT is not a monoply. IBM sells more software tham MSFT. There are other operating systems, just none as robust or none that make it easy for the average Joe. OS2 i.e. I tried it...Hard to use, no drivers and no Co Support.

Just MHO
