ChatCom Awarded Canadian Government Contract

ChatCom Awarded Sole Source Canadian Government Contract

CHATSWORTH, Calif--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 1997--ChatCom Inc. (Nasdaq:CHAT - news), the
leading manufacturer of
highly managed rack mounted consolidated server products Friday announced that they have been awarded a
sole source contract to
provide their RAINS (Redundant Array of Independent Network Servers) hardware to the Canadian
government in support of ongoing
network infrastructure re-engineering projects.

The Canadian government will use ChatCom hardware to minimize its risk of network downtime in critical
data delivery environments.
The ChatCom RAINS platform was chosen primarily because of its redundancy and high performance. The
ChatCom hardware also
allows the government to scale (grow) the system seamlessly as data and the number of network clients
increase.

The contract, and IDIQ (indefinite duration/indefinite quantity), is valued at approximately $2.5 million over
the next eight to 12 months.
ChatCom expects to ship the first portion of RAINS hardware, valued at $424,994 (USDLR), to Canada
within the next two weeks, for
installation by the government on Dec. 1, 1997.

James Mariner, president and chief executive officer for ChatCom, said of the award: ''We are regularly
beginning to see concrete
indications, in the form of orders and newly emerging business opportunities that show us we are on the right
track with our RAINS
concept.

''Businesses and government entities who value the availability of their data must do whatever they can to
insulate themselves from the
risk of downtime and to position their networks to support continued growth elegantly. Our platform meets
both of those criteria.''

ChatCom further announced that the company, because of the significant government and other business
potential, has signed a lease on
new office space in Toronto and expects to grow both its sales and services staff levels there over the coming
months.

Founded in 1982, ChatCom is a leading supplier of award-winning managed, consolidated application and
communication server systems
to Fortune 1000 companies worldwide. Located in Chatsworth, ChatCom is publicly held and traded on
Nasdaq under the symbol
CHAT. ChatCom can be reached at 800/456-1333 or on the Web at jlchat.com

IN,

This time you should pick the prime rib, since last time you chose
the lobster. Don't eat too many anchovies, they tend to give one heartburn.
I am very hopefull that RLLY will perform for us. Someone
should volunteer to touch base with the Co. IR dept. and get some more
inside information to relay to the investors to regain their confidence. I think Monday, most folks who sold would be having second thoughts. There must be alot of tin men out there. Peg just kidding.
