Well-Known Wall Street Strategist Joe Battipaglia Dies By Dunstan Prial Published April 14, 2011 \| FOXBusiness Print Email Share Comments (10) Text Size Long-time Wall Street analyst and media presence Joe Battipaglia died suddenly Thursday, his employer Stifel Nicolaus confirmed. He was 55. Known for his calm presence and deep institutional knowledge of Wall Street, the economy and securities markets, Battipaglia’s views were regularly sought by journalists from the most prestigious financial media outlets, and he was a frequent guest on the FOX Business Network. Details of his death weren’t immediately available. In his last position, Battipaglia served as market strategist for Stifel Nicolaus’ private client group and was also the chief investment officer of Washington Crossing Advisors, a Stifel Nicolaus investment advisory program. Battipaglia was formerly the chairman of investment policy at Ryan, Beck & Co., and before that he spent nearly two decades in a number of executive positions at Gruntal & Co. Before moving to Wall Street full-time in 1984, Battipaglia was a financial analyst for the Exxon Corp. and worked as a securities analyst at Elkins & Co. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in economics from Boston College and earned his MBA at the Wharton Graduate School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
