Here in the US it's just one more way they are trying to hide inflation. You can see it in all kinds of goods. In food, for example, they are keeping price increases in check by making the packages smaller. The one that really frosts me is ice cream. They now charge 6-7 dollars for a carton that has been reduce 20%+ in size. The carton used to be a full half gallon. When I was a kind, and I shan't say how long ago that was :), the full gallon was $0.69.
