All these paper profits corporations are sitting on could disappear overnight if we have a financial collapse. A collapse that congress pushed us one step closer to yesterday.

"Sadly I fear the profits will be short term as the fiscal future is frightening."

DMaA gave a good explanation of what I meant by the above. Yes - things are rosy now for some - particularly international corporations who can profit from economic activity outside of the US. In addition, US corporations involved in commodity based production industries are doing well.

Somewhere in time the game being played in the US is going to explode all over us. Trillion dollar deficits for as far as the eye can see. A weak economy when interest rates are essentially zero - what happens when rates rise.

We are governed by idiotic policy that is designed to preserve the status quo for as long as possible via bailouts and loose money. Our economy is like a leaky balloon. It is being kept inflated despite its growing leaks by the money pump.

How long do you think this game can continue? Your friends on the left are consumed with protecting the status quo out of their sense of "care". What is needed is a purging of debt and a purging of other unaffordable excesses - like bad union contracts.

Is this purging going to be pretty - heck no. Does any rational person think it is avoidable - or not necessary?

Bob

There's no place to put your $ with any hope of appreciable gain right now, except the stock market. The Fed is destroying savers and the retired with inflation that they hide by excluding gas and food. There is no safe place to put your $ with any hope of gain.
