the fine job private industry has done self-regulating financial instruments like CDOs? Unfortunately government was to blame for that one also. Brooksley Born, who saw this coming and wanted to reign in derivatives and get transparency in the market was shouted down by assholes Greenspan, Larry Summers and Robert Rubin saying that the derviative markets were just fine. I agree that the derivative markets blowing up is what got us into this mess but it never fails that when government should act, they don't and when they shouldn't butt in they do. The problem this time is with healthcare the government will kill you. At least the financial crisis hasn't killed me.............................................................yet
