"I think Bush was elected because everybody thought he was harmless, and things were going so well." I agree with that. The future was so bright, we had to wear shades. Gore WAS (and is) horribly pedantic and boring, and seemed to think he had it in the bag. Plus, the GOP did a wonderful job of keeping Bush under wraps mostly, and tightly on script when not. I look for a repeat of that THIS election season - not having a leading (R) candidate by now is part of that. Still, had we elected Gore, we'd be living in a MUCH different, better America today. The lesson? EVERY election counts BIG TIME. We can't predict the future, even in great times.
