What Obama would say today...

I continue to believe a cut in the gas tax is counterproductive, and there are those who will call this pandering, which is a discussion I will be happy to have later on, but I call upon Congress to cut the gas tax by 10 cents.

so poisoning the well by in effect running against universality, as Obama has, is a much more serious breach

Try as I might, I am unable to follow Krugmans thinking here. I assume he is talking specifically about the "tax holiday" on gas. If so, how is that "poisoning the well"? Am I to assume Krugman is criticizing Obama because Obama is against the tax holiday? Yah sure, increase the incentive to use more oil by lowering the price. Arrrgg! I say "good for Obama" for this position even if it was 3 years ago..........
