Iomega has thrown in the towel trying to get major analysts and Institutions interested in covering IOM stock. Its institutional ownership is still below 12% (tiny), and is still an outcast in the NYSE. IMO, it was a major mistake to move from NASDAQ to NYSE. The upcoming split is recognition that institutions simply will not buy this stock.

It's the individual investor that Iomega management is targeting with this split, as to keep the price down in the teens to make it seem "cheap." Management is showing that they are getting impatient and frustrated with the movement (or lack of) of IOM stock.
