By your logic. We'd banned shipping because of the Titanic. We did not. We constant study the causes and improve designs by learning from disasters. 2% of what is inside people's head is reality. The other 98% is created by the own brain. There is always very clever people, very slick guys trying to making money. They plant those highly visible incidents such as Love Canal. Once that is planted into the heads of people it takes a life of its own. I work in a business that can fail and we lose money. I hate when people want to spend money iron cladding Optical fiber when we just accept disasters as a fact of life and build redundancy. We can out law bad luck.
