The human species is going to merge with technology. Our intelligence will increase and we will change in many ways.

The outcome is unnown. Although I hold out little hope for the human species.

Most people either have too little ability to conceptualize a sophisticated world. They either lack enough curiosity about their existence to learn the truth of things, or they have been brainwashed and are crippled thinkers, or they lack the aiblity for reasons of nature.

I look at how many silly things grown people should see, but don't, and just shake my head. LIke the fact Palin and Beck are talking jibberish.

I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

The Watson Project's Director was interviewed in TIME awhile back explaining that Watson was programmed by humans to process input and calculate responses. He disputed the statement that Watson had anything approaching human intelligence. Sure, computers can be programmed to recognize jokes and respond with a canned laugh but that doesn't mean they get the joke.

Computers can perform many tasks better and faster than humans, but an electric drill can drill a hole faster than a carpenter with a manual drill - that doesn't mean the computer will own the factory.

It's going to take a lot longer than the futurists think before computers have anything approaching intelligence.

In the nearer-than-we-think future, corporations will be RUN by AI's like Watson. Their reason for existence, what they will work day and night, 365 to achieve, will be the MOST profit at the LEAST cost, nothing else. They will transform and rule the working world.

If we were intelligent and had good will, we would use the technology to reduce the work week and have more time to learn and enjoy life.

The top 400 richest people have more than the bottom 150 million. That is insane. without a robust middle class we will devolve into social chaos and unhappiness.

MOney is not spread out fairly right now. Society has the right, and indeed the obligation to ensure the tribes resources are distributed fairly.

Right wingers have no understanding of that concept. And that is the problem.

They do not even understand societies obligation for medicare for the old crippled people! To ensure they can get that hip replacemnet. Not give them a usless voucher.

And what makes it pornographic is how rich we are!
