I had a huge swing in my portfolio today from -0.4% in the morning to +0.35% at the close. So yes the market is behaving crazy.

I wouldn't say the S&P is dominated by wingers. I think what happened today is good for the Dems since it now puts pressure on the Repubs to not play politics. Remember, they have been in power only in the House for just 3 months and they have already unsettled the markets with their threats. It was all very predictive before that. And the market was not this unsettled when the Dems were in power in the Congress and Bush was in the WH. So the American people would now be wondering if it is worthwhile to have the Repubs in the majority in the Congress (either House)
