That's close to what I'm thinking. OPEX and FED are next week too. We also have short trading weeks coming up.

They may bring GDX back down to the 200 dma. They did it in Feb. and Mar.

Either that or miners are anticipating end of QE (at least for time being) and PM longs are trying to get out by squeezing shorts?

downgrade of US credit also scared some doves:

Edit: On the other hand, looking at the sentiment on a few miner threads, GDX may be ready to launch to your high 60s target. <G>

I'm really beginning to think that to a large extent we are just trading amongst ourselves with little new money entering the PM sector... A few stocks run up the traders jump in....the majority of stocks head lower as traders bail to follow the hotter performing stocks, the next time a different set of stocks either run up or down... The hedgers just keep putting on their hedges because they can... It has been well documented the lack of public and institutional participation with PM holdings remaining a miniscule portion of most maket participant portfolios... Until new money starts coming this game will probably continue.. I think we need to get more participation and more money flowing in to knock the hedgers out of the game. What level is going to attract new money ?? I sure don't know my best guess would have been the money would have been piling in several hundred dollars ago.. Sure been disappointing seeing POG and POS at new highs with many many stocks just dogging it.....
