I can guarantee you that it won't be meaningful spending cuts. Congress will watch us explode first. Then they'll take swift action to begin new rounds of blame assignment followed by a 2 week recess to "visit their constituents" to express how appalled they are at what their opponents did to the nation.

Most of the disinterested nation will continue to not understand.

Good point. Government workers also get good pensions while traditional pensions are disappearing from the private sector.
