Copycats who produce milk made of melamine do okay for a while. But working for low pay and pinching other people's ideas isn't leadership. Gaoling anyone who hints at disagreement isn't leadership either. It is better than bludging for a living though, which is increasingly the New Zealand way of life - as the number of producers reduces, and proportion of bludgers increases, the rate of loss increases.

Yes, I do like it when the playing field gets level. I had a discussion with a snobby lady 30 years ago on the ski fields [actually in the lodge]. She was saying how bad unemployment was getting. I explained that the only thing wrong with unemployment is that the pay rate isn't high enough.

She reflected for a moment then asked, "But what would they do?" as though the witless savages would be at a loss for something to do. I suggested they could come and crowd the ski slopes. She was horrified at the idea as though the mindless plebs were unfit to be in such exalted circumstance.

I quite like being unemployed. With QCOM selling you CDMA/OFDM, my income is okay.

China will have to adopt VVV to excel or at least Confucianism if full blown VVV is beyond them [including patience]. I say export the jobs to China and go skiing. Get machines to do the work that they won't do in China. Or maybe hire Indians, or Indonesians.

By patience, I don't mean waiting in a queue for a witless kleptocrat to clip a ticket, I mean patience to wait for a crop to ripen or circumstances to evolve to advantage. That sort of patience is virtuous. Patience with a child trying to learn is also virtuous.

The Freedom Manifesto

BAKE BREAD
MUCK ABOUT
QUIT MOANING
STOP CONSUMING
START PRODUCING
BACK TO THE LAND
SMASH USURY
EMBRACE BEAUTY
IGNORE THE STATE
REFORM IS FUTILE
HAIL THE SPADE
HAIL THE QUILL
LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR
BE CREATIVE
DIG THE EARTH
MAKE COMPOST
DOWN WITH HEALTH
DOWN WITH SAFETY
DOWN WITH WORK
DOWN WITH PENSIONS
BE ALIVE
BE MERRY

I would add: Get gold.

I would delete: Make compost. It will not make you free. Also would delete baking bread, too many carbs.
