One way to "reduce" those numbers is by reducing the median income. And that's not hard at all. Just increase taxes on the middle class. Which is what most countries in Europe do anyway. Any study on the topic would likely meet with objections from those who would like a different answer...anyway, read carefully...the study takes issues like taxation, social credits and the like into account...it's nor perfect, but if you've spent any time in the inner cities or the slums of southern louisiana you'd know that there is a problem here that should not be so prevalent in the richest nation on the planet.
