In going back over some of the past posts on 3Com I've noticed the despair over the lack of share price and I thought I would add my .02 cents.........

I worked for 3Com from 1990-1996. When I started it was a $250 million company with a stock price of $5 and nobody was buying it! 3Com was on the verge of going under when they merged with Bridge and brought in Eric Benhamou to take over. After six years the stock had split twice and the company was worth $3 billion. This man is absolutely brilliant in the networking field and is always a step ahead of his competitors. 3Com was merging with other companies to speed up the pipeline long before Cisco even knew how to do it.

As far as USRX, it is way too early to judge this merger as a bust. Years ago Benhamou realized that global consumer brand recognition was vital for his company into the new century. He envisions major growth in the home for networking. 3Com will dominate the home based networker in the future, the merger with USRX being a major step. I'm not talking about modems either.
This merger is about long range future and sucess for 3Com not instant returns on equity.

3Com and USRX will take time to iron everything out. 3Com is a lean and mean
Silicon Valley company with very different principles from USRX. This is not Baynet!!!!!

I'm also afraid to say that the easy money on 3Com has probably already been made. I've seen the MM's kick 3Com down before and it will be awhile before they let her back up again.

On the positive side I know for a fact that early next year will bring many new product offerings out to market. This is what will be needed to bring 3Com back in the limelight. The patient investors will be rewarded.
