I do not know a lot about this industry, but typically when they want to have a time released response in other industries, they coat whatever it is they are using with chemicals that have different rates of dissolving.

I am not sure that including a cross-section of different size granules would work with TK -- my gut says likely not, but honestly I am not sure.

I think they need to go to the grade that already worked for them and use it. I think that they used a more coarse grade for this experiment (then what they have used in the past) likely to try and avoid an additional grinding step and they have found that it did not work as well -- but that is a guess on my part.
