Hi Swan - Re: "...how about lowering our mobile/internet usage costs.. highest in developed world ... a laughing stock compared to places like HK.. in both quality and price...ooooops... That's the NDP platform..."

Yup. Whoops!

Re:"Good God.. they have enough spy powers already..."

I really dislike the neocon/neolib attachment to seeing enemies everywhere, and peeking into everyone's life. As for police, we've seen them killing and beating Canadians (and visitors). They brutalized Canadians exercising their democratic rights at G20. They're doing these things, and they're getting away with it. The latest was an 11 year-old.

This is a worrisome trend that appears to be accelerating; it applies not only to police, but especially to their political masters.

Re: "latest poll makes me think Conservative landslide possible.. with NDP rising and vote splitting... Libs losing to both NDP and Conservatives as is Bloc..."

Possibly true. It depends on the electoral split as opposed to the popular vote as measured by polls.

No party has my vote. My hope is that Canadians won't give a majority to any party and will preserve minority government.

Layton calls Harper a digital dinosaur

"Calling Stephen Harper a "Commodore 64 in an IPad world" who "thinks an app is something you order before dinner," NDP leader Jack Layton slammed the Conservatives for putting cellphone companies ahead of consumers as he unveiled his plan for the digital economy.

Speaking in Toronto with a slate of young supporters live blogging and Tweeting as his backdrop, Layton promised to unlock cellphones so consumers could change service providers without having to change phones. He further vowed to expand broadband service across the country, ensure copyright legislation is fair to both artists and consumers and said he would make it illegal for companies to "price gouge" through usage-based billing.

"Right now, over 30 per cent of Canadian households don't have access to broadband and we are one of the few developed countries with no national broadband plan," he said.

"It's no surprise we're falling behind."

Harper promises balance in telecom reform

"Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Monday that if he moved to lift foreign ownership limits in the telecoms industry he would tread carefully in order to protect domestic companies."

No! Really, Stephen? Protect gouging, inefficient top-heavy Canadian monopolists? We're so surprised.
