Congressman Ryan has a meeting with reality: thinkprogress.org Whatever we say about Ryan, it did take courage to put into print the scummy things most GOP reps are thinking. He wants another trilion dollar tax cut for the wealthy.

Keeping tax rates WHERE THEY ARE TODAY is not a "tax cut".

Are you really so anxious for your tax rate to rise? Do you really think that would be good for the economy?

The history of actual tax revenues shows that the Federal government collects about 15% to 20% of GDP in tax revenue no matter what the top rate is...under high rates, the top earners just spend a lot of effort in procuring tax shelters. All this effort is renumerative to themselves but entirely unproductive for the economy.

That's what liberals like, however. Tons and tons of totally wasted unproductive effort in the name of "fairness". Remember when Obama was asked if he would raise tax rates even if he knew revenue would go down, and he said yes? But then, we know that Obama is total economic illiterate.

But what's your excuse?
