What happened to that decrepit wind farm in the South Point area? It's been 9 years since we were in the area, but I'm sure the wind hasn't stopped blowing. And it seems that geothermal has potential there - plenty of hot lava underfoot. It is silly and expensive to depend on diesel generators, like some third world island<g>. At least you don't need a lot of heating and AC (at least not on the east side of the island).

53¢.kwh Hawaii probably has too expensive land for large scale solar, but roof top solar should be thriving with those utility costs.
