"I am queasy about the govt supporting it." I don't remember the government being involved in building out gas stations. Did I miss something? If there's a market......

I'm generally opposed to these kinds of tax credits, but I can see the value in it in this instance. TC's comparison with events 100 years ago really don't apply today. Today, we may need some encouragement to get the ball rolling. I do have an issue with the longevity of some of the credits; I think it would be more effective to say, "If you do x in the next 3 years, you'll get the credit. If you do it ten years from now, who knows?" If we can spend 3B on "Cash for Clunkers" and waste, totally waste, a trillion on "economic stimulus", we can squeeze out $5 Billion for some tax credits for a shot at getting off foreign oil. I think CLNE looks like a good investment opportunity. I think I'll buy some next week. Financial look good.
