JOHN, The info in the post you just uploaded was contained in pseudobiologist's link: sciencemag.org In addition to the latent virus in the long lived memory cells, the upcoming PNAS paper indicated that there was evidence of low level viral replication, which is the principle requirement for the emergence of resistant strains. Thus these resivoires not only provide a safe haven for the virus, but they also support the creation of new resistant strains which happens fairly frequently, especially in patients previously treated.
