I considered THEIR snapshot as an equivalent version to Acronis' method except now see that is a different concept (more akin to the Vista method of keeping restore points). I made an error and it appears as you said, it does to imaging like Acronis.

However, if you look at that list - the items that are NOT checked off, under the free version are actually quite critical. ie restoring to a different system - they must read ID codes to prevent you to restore to new gear without paying for the product. Having a system "burp" forcing you to restore is rather rare - normally some hardware piece is the cause to the failure (80% HDD failure).

Anyahoo, as I am not happy with Acronis on the Vista, I will consider over the next few weeks, assuming I have time to go through the motions. If it works well I would opt for the paid version for peace of mind.
