I don't know about REQUIRING them to shop at thrift stores, but shopping thrift stores is a GREAT idea for anybody. It's really one of the greenest things you can do.

Sure, lots of stuff there is crap. But SOMETIMES, Mr. golfing (R) dies, and his Ping clubs, Big Bertha driver, Brooks Brother's suits and English shoes go to the thrift store!
