K.L., you write <<You don't sell as many billions of dollars worth of systems as Gateway does by alienating your customer base.>> Unfortunately, that just hasn't been true in the past. Even when GTW was notorious for horrible customer service, the company still sold reams of computers. So you can't extrapolate service from sales. My experience has been spotty with customer service over the two and one-half years that I've owned my computer, ranging from o.k. to terrible.

Now it may be that somewhere in the original instruction books that I received with my computer, there was information on how to install ram. Be that as it may, I was told unconditionally that there would be instructions with the ram I was buying. No ifs, ands, or buts. So when the ram arrived without any instructions, in my book that was poor service, at best.

But my main point is, and I'll state it again, if they cannot provide superior service there is no reason whatsoever to purchase a computer from them at a higher price than you can get at, say, CPU.
