Nice, well reasoned response.

I particularly like number item eight

What other location data is Apple collecting from the iPhone besides crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data?

Apple is now collecting anonymous traffic data to build a crowd-sourced traffic database with the goal of providing iPhone users an improved traffic service in the next couple of years.

The sooner the better.

I really wish Jobs or Cook would hold an occasional press conference when these issues arise. They really need to make it an event. For example although the press release is very clear this article in WIRED leaves a lot to be desired:

Apple Promises Fix for Location-Gathering ‘Bug’ on iPhone

wired.com

The title alone makes it look like it's a bug which it isn't. To get Apples press release requires clicking a link. The article is just as bad as the headline.

Apple is, in effect, letting WIRED and other websites with their 20 something amateur "journalists" run their PR office. The amount of time and money it would take to fix this bad PR permanently is negligible.
