PW, Your directions took me to the same location recommended by The Former Joe B. Thank you for explaining what to do next. When I right-clicked on the Disk box the "Extend Volume" was greyed out. Only available choice was "Shrink Volume" so I chose the unallocated box to create a new simple volume. The wizard was very simple but it has taken an hour to format just 67% of the new 500 GB drive. Didn't realize this would take so long but not to worry. Thanks again for the careful instructions. I owe you one, Miss Witchy.
