Sam, I haven't been around a lot lately, but thought this one would knock your socks off,its about the 21st Century System HLIT is building. This is an incredible story unfolding, a must read. Then again HLIT is my largest telecom holding behind BAY. I am still enamored with their engineers, business skills and balance sheet.

Quite the story, hope you read it.

Sam,
Here's the Hyperion prospectus:
sec.gov . Your affinity for Ugly Ducklings meshes with their strategy.

The basic thesis for owning the CLECs follows the history of moneymaking from owning MCIC, LCI, WCOM, etc. as AT&T went from a near 100% market share to less than 60% today. It wasn't alway an easy ride but over time LD investors were pretty happy.

The CLECs should benefit from the same trends. Selecting which one to own is trickier because buying stocks without earnings is a bit of a crapshoot. All can do well, but my preference is for larger platforms or more experienced managements. I own WCII because I like their large geographical footprint and, thanks to Moore's Law, the economics of the digital radios, will continue to get better and better. I don't own MCLD, but would put my money on them. Clark McLeod built the 4th largest LD company and sold it to MCI several years ago (Telecom USA, the brand used now in the 10321 ads, that was his company); now he's building a local based company with the same people.
