Wonderbread: You're not alone, hang in there, fund will come back.

Wonderbread, as long as you don't sell, you haven't lost anything. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't be concerned. Call the fund administration first thing Monday morning and ask questions. Has there been some adverse news that affected Seligman funds? Why isn't the fund performing as expected? Perhaps Seligman needs a new PR department? Even mutual funds must advertise the positive in order to maintain interest. It's your right to ruffle some feathers at the fund office. I know they don't control the market, however, they should be able to explain what has happened.

Look at Nextel, for example. Excellent PR department: The loss widens and the PR department turns this into a very positive move by comparing the most important parts of the company's financial results. Thus, the Seligman administration should be able to produce good answers to your questions and give you the assurance that the fund is not in trouble and your investment is relatively secure.

Over the years I have seen people's tax returns, where they have chosen the more conservative way of investing, mutual funds. The funds still go up and down like a yo yo, however, in the long term the return is usually very positive. You know that, that is why you picked Seligman for your IRA money.

As you have said in the past, more questions than answers. But in this case, calling the fund office will probably ease your nerves.

Regards:

nervous Al

WonderBread **OFF TOPIC**,

Did the Seligman Comm. Fund make a distribution? Last year they made one on Nov. 13. The share price would drop by the distribution, but you still have the cash (or reinvested distribution). Hope this helps.
