I'm almost positive that Heinz B. said a few years ago that in the latter stages of a gold bull, the metal is the place to be. He either said, or I can presume it's because the miners begin discounting the sustainability of the rise in the metal price.

I would further think that the last big push of any cycle in the bull market would likewise exhibit a similar dampening effect on miner share prices.
