Most Conservatives have never really read and certainly don't understand what Jesus said and what those who originally followed him did. The first Church of Jerusalem, led by James, the brother of Jesus, with Peter and John as his top aids, was a communist community. The Acts of the Apostles says that loud and clear and, though Luke is often a bit unreliable, I see no reason why he would say such a thing if it weren't true.

Paul is a different subject. He was a true capitalist from a Middle Class, upwardly mobile family. He preached kowtowing to "the powers" of the world, while Jesus preached passive resistance to them. I think much of what Paul said was tried and true, but much was opinion and often disagreed with what Jesus said. In fact, Paul never quoted ANY of the words Jesus said when he was mortal. That Paul was eventually executed by the powers he supported was the ultimate irony. To be fair, he had learned about the powers mostly under Claudius. Nero was a different sort of power.

Most Conservative Christians are Paulists, not Jesus followers. You can be both, but when you have a choice between Paul and Jesus, you have to go with Jesus.

The story of The Q Source tells the Jesus story in Mark, Luke and Matthew, with those authors adding extras that did not exist in the other gospels. Fortunately, they all quote Q accurately. John was more of the science fiction version and doesn't use Q.
