In a word, nonsense.

Don't lecture me on Timna, I worked on it and it was a beautiful product. The chipset had a problem, not Timna and I worked on that too. Do you think the Israeli's are an independent company that does whatever they want? They are part of Intel. Yes, the team contributed to Core but it was because power was becoming a real problem and Intel saw the writing on the wall and funded the project. As for P4, Intel made a mistake, realized it and corrected it. Core was years in the planning, just like all processors.

The whole point has been that companies project out in time and plan accordingly. Intel saw they were coming up on a power wall and AMD saw they were coming up on a Capex wall. Intel did what they do best, they competed with a new architecture. AMD couldn't compete so they sued.

Intel was trying desperately to stall PC technology 'till the Itanic could be developed.

They didn't manage.

It didn't work.
