Jerry, you sound so NORMAL when you recount your trading life! So many of the typical "mistakes" I have read about (as investors).

In my writing class she put up a quote about writing and inspiration and it went on about sometimes getting inspiration but that more likely most writing is about constant trial and error. Now, I could not help to notice that that is what my LIFE has been about....some inspiration ....but mostly trial and error. Now that CERTAINLY is what my trading from total ignorance has been. And I have the impatient ego enough to think that somehow I SHOULD HAVE BEEN smarter than everyone else to escape the "common" errors of learning from trial and error. I somehow should have been smarter than all those before me even including the Market Wizards......:)

You don't know how heartened I was to see TT even post.....something about....." and it took me YEARS"---to blindly follow my system without second guessing, etc" (sorry TT if I misquoted you but that was the idea I understood)......now, TT is saying that just one function of trading took that time....and there are all the other phases he had to learn and that I am learning--and how long does that take? Money management, psychology, personal weaknesses, etc.......I mean this is some complicated occupation!! and I didn't want to pay the dues to enter this elite group of risk takers!! Now, how realistic was that?

One of my favorite quotes is of a trader who finally made it (a bigger deal kind then us small fish) and he said that the intensity of this trading life and it's bold/bald no holds barred look into the mirror and FACE YOURSELF type quality it has has the trader living an average person's 60 years in the space of l0......now I really believe that. This is some intense school of getting to know onesself.....which is what they say it really is on every level.....your belief systems, your deservedness, etc.

Mark Douglas says the base of all this is your feeling of deserving. I would also say being totally "dumb" like in my case was a help--made a fortune fast and a hindrance--ability to do the same in reverse.

I always say dumb luck counts....:) But it also seems to work best with some smarts which is what I am acquiring after I seemed to acquire the dumb luck first.....would have "chosen" the reverse...:)

One of the main points that I bring up is: why the heck does everyone start talking about the downtrend just a week or so ago when LRCX was already down 35 points!! What is that?! Why does it take 35 points to notice a downtrend? That is part of my study.

The other point is self doubt. SLOT. I thought by chart pattern, sound, sentiment, history when it hit it's high.....time for going down at least 25 points.....did I short? No. Why? Not quite sure but the thoughts that come are: Well, maybe not this time. Maybe I am wrong. No one else noticed it. What if there is a short squeeze? ETC.,....now what does that have to do with making l5 points now??!!

What personality flaw to trading that is I am working on. I am sure it is multiple.

Thank's for your post Jerry. Mucho grande. It helps me on deeper levels where all the "real" stuff is.....versus.....do you think CPQ is going to go higher.....?.......not that I wouldn't want to know that too....:)
