Not quite. Bob Rae won 57% of the seats (74 out of 130) with only 37.6% of the popular vote (with only three widely recognizable parties on the ballot). Harper will win 54% (or less) of the seats with 40% of the popular vote in a four party race.

So, the 1990 election was even less representable than last night's. The Blockheads won 6% of the popular vote. Should they get to have 18 seats in Parliament? Even the NDP got more seats than their share of the popular vote.

That's our system. Everyone plays by the same set of rules.
