As long as we're in Afghanistan, and 60-80% of the supplies for this operation goes through Pakistan, we are going to have to do a whole lot of swallowing and pretend not to see a whole lot of crap.

Can it really be the Pakistani military didn't know about it? Do convoys of American helicopters fly around Pakistan at all hours with no Pakistanis knowing about them?

One of the things that might have happened is that since this all was occurring within one mile of the "West-Point" of Pakistan. [Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul] the locals and probably even most of the military people probably thought that there was something going on at the Military Academy.

All of the Military Brass in Pakistan are graduates of PMA-Kakul, including General Musharraf. So I would imagine that late night helicopters ferrying these VIP's are not uncommon occurrences in the neighborhood.
