BCB- I can't offer much in the way of sheltering income beyond buying munis. However, if you can bear it, give some money to the kids now. The new $5mm gift tax limit may expire at the end of 2012. Put it in a trust for them if youre worried about what they would do with it. You become the their investment specialist even if only to create more option income. They pay the taxes at, perhaps, a lower rate than you would. It's not a shelter but it is a shift.
